Plot: This is the story of 1970s African-American action legend Black Dynamite. The Man killed his brother, pumped heroin into local orphanages, and flooded the ghetto with adulterated malt liquor. Black Dynamite was the one hero willing to fight The Man all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House. Black Dynamite is directed by Scott Sanders and co-written by White, Sanders, and Byron Minns, who also co-star. The look of the film is a retro homage to all of the blaxploitation movies of the seventies, but unlike Grindhouse (Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s exploitation homage) Black Dynamite does not employ “fake scratches or digitally generated retro deterioration”, according to director Scott Sanders. The cinematographer Shawn Maurer tested a Super 16 Color Reversal Kodak film stock to get the high contrast and saturated look for the movie. The filmmakers supplemented their shoot with the use of period stock footage from several blaxploitation films and from Sony Pictures Stock Footage. The film has been discussed with approval on numerous movie-related websites.

[UG] The Marine 2 (2009) DVDRip XviD

The story is neither clever nor inventive, but it follows in the tradition of similar films by offering a simple scenario in which exists the unlimited potential for hardcore violence. But it’s the presentation that really makes the film work. Helmed by director Roel Reine, the movie looks and feels hugely theatrical despite its lower budget. From the cinematography, to the striking angles, to the well struck balance between fast-paced edits and lingering, well-orchestrated camera moves, there’s little about the sequel’s direction that isn’t more inspired than its fairly generic original. A hand-to-hand fight scene about two-thirds of the way through the movie takes place amidst a lengthy, sweeping camera rotation that highlights the complex choreography in a single shot. This’d be impressive by big-screen standards let alone DVD.

The aliens are later assessed as apparently being all “workers”, with their leadership mysteriously missing (it is hypothesized that a plague may have wiped out all of the leadership-caste). Grainy footage shows part of the ship (supposed to be a command module) falling to Earth, but nobody has been able to find it, leaving the ship inoperable.
