Horror comedy enthusiasts must be having a great summer. First their patron saint Raimi returns with Drag Me to Hell, and now Norwegian Tommy Wirkola’s Dead Snow revives the slap-stick scare routine of the incomparable Evil Dead 2.And for anyone with a zombie fetish or just a plain weird sense of humor(or both), the film’s ’big idea’ is that its vacationing med students are set upon by legions of the Nazi undead. In a year when the Nazi has resurfaced as a go-to symbol of evil and moral compromise, Snow goes hog wild with the concept; the zombies are rotting, ferocious cadavers in full battle attire, led by a menacing officer in SS uniform. So, lets quickly sum up: skiers on holiday in Norway stumble upon an army of Hitler’s resurrected minions? Yep. And the movie takes it every bit as seriously as you just did when you read it. Which is to say, not at all.

Dead Snow has alot of fun with its basic premise and its ambitions are very simple: deliver a goofy good time that pays tribute to the endless parade of genre titles that have come before it. It works because of skill-full production and a Puckish attitude that freely pokes and prods the audience as often as it jolts and shocks them. There is ZERO subtlety used and absolutely no substance to the overall story. But unlike Land of the Lost, another genre product aiming to amp up the silly, Dead Snow understands that humor and zany contrivance require a certain finesse and patience.
Ultimately, its a little too patient for its own good, never really taking off into the stratosphere of insanity until its final twenty minutes. But fans of horror and schlock will get exactly what they are looking for from Dead Snow; well-timed thrills, visually inventive action sequences and a gore and dismemberment factor that leaves biological accuracy behind for Looney Tunes town. I was resisting the movie for its first half hour, but when I saw one of the heroes dangling Cliffhanger style over a dangerous precipice, clutching onto nothing more than miles and miles of a zombie’s intestines, I just gave up and went with it. And in the end, I was glad I did.

The plot is by the numbers horror fodder. Four guys and four girls are scheduled to meet up at a cabin in ski country. One them arrives early to prepare the place for the others. When the rest arrive, she’s nowhere to be found and inside the cabin the group discover a box of old coins. Later, a grizzled old vagabond shows up (as they often do in this type of film) and tells them the story of a Nazi unit who terrorized the nearby town and were driven off and trapped in a cave by the angry citizens. The creepy passerby rolls up, issues the odd warning, lights a joint and puts it out in a cup of coffee, snags a beer and then heads on his way. Shortly thereafter, the last remnants of the Third Reich drop by the cabin and before you can say “Great Gallons of Gore, Batman!” legs are being gnawed, zombie torsos mashed and heads removed for a bracing game of hot potato...........

Zombie Holocaust is an entertaining diversion. If you regularly comb the drecks of Italian horror garbage, you've seen much worse. This is a spliced-together film, like Mattei's Hell of The Living Dead, only this one cobbles two dumb gory b-movies together. There's a heavy dip in the fondue pot in store for this stink-ridden pile of sleazy excrement, and by that I mean I like it. Not only does this s hit sizzle but its got recognizable faces in it: Ian McCulloch from Zombie; Alexandra Delli Colli from The New York Ripper; Donald O'Brien from Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals, and a black guy who was in Zombie. I'm not racist, I just don't remember his name.
Like I said, there's two movies here (at least!)-- one involving a psychotic doctor and the other being a cannibal/zombie film. So you'd think there would be a lot going on here. But there isn't. It's just an onslaught of cheap gore scenes. One scene has Ian McCulloch defending himself with an outboard motor to an attacking zombie's face. HIS FACE. And if that ain't enough, Delli Colli has the camera pointed at her bush for the last fifteen minutes of the movie. Based on that alone, you should be scrambling to get to the video store. But seriously, there's dozens more treats in this movie including disembowelings, throat gashings, and skull-sawing autopsies.

The Horror Film:All Night Long 2 (Ooru naito rongu 2: Sanji)

Young, shy, nerdy Shinichi is spending his summer vacation holed up in his room with the curtains closed. A typical example of the shy, world-weary otaku, we see him building a model kit of a naked female manga character and sending messages on his computer.

A few miles away, his rich classmate also appears to have the house to himself (parents are nowhere to be found in this film). But he fills his time dissecting hamsters and pouring glue into his boyfriend's ear. It's Shinichi this rich kid wants in bed next to him, but being more than a little bit obsessed with death and decay, his crush is translated into violent and abusive behaviour. When the two first meet, Shinichi becomes the victim of his twisted admirer's equally twisted gang of thugs, who strip him to his underwear, beat him senseless, burn his genitals with a cigarette butt and destroy his prized manga doll.

Several days later, Shinichi finds his tormentor knocking on his door. With the promise that he won't be hurt, Shinichi takes the invitation to come to his classmate's house for dinner. There begins a game of psychological manipulation that takes Shinichi ever closer to breaking point and unearths his own capacities for violence. When the rest of the gang and a number of Shinichi's friends become involved, things quickly spiral down into violent, blood red insanity.

Some sources state that this film was refused a certificate by the Japanese ratings board Eirin on account of its "unacceptable" tone, and was instead released straight onto video. This is highly unlikely, given that the film was shot on video, which basically rules out the possibility of it being intended as a theatrical release in the first place. The rumour probably originated with a prologue text that opened an earlier bootleg version of this film, which outlined the above ratings controversy.

All Night Long 2 is definitely an improvement over part 1. Matsumura's plotting is still clumsy as hell, there are still the occasional lapses into sensationalism, but at least this time the main characters and their relationship make sense. It's the core of the film and having it so well-defined does wonders for the film's impact and credibility. Shinichi, the sexual innocent, is dragged down into the twisted world of a violent sexual aggressor in a vital stage of his development. His first encounters with sex are through physical and mental abuse, rape, torture and murder. It's not surprising that at the end he will never again be the wide-eyed innocent we first saw hunched over his model kit. At the beginning of the film, he is building bodies. At the end, he is ripping them apart. The final shot of the film - Shinichi going back into the world after the massacre, with a mysterious grin on his face that belies his disturbed inner self - is almost identical to the ending of part 1, but here the development from innocent to twisted soul is motivated rather than imposed and it makes a world of difference.

All Night Long 2 is still not a masterpiece by any standards (Kazuyoshi Kumakiri's Kichiku / Kichiku Dai Enkai (1997) easily surpasses it as a study in man's descent into violence), but it certainly packs a serious punch.

A husband and wife have just experienced a parent’s worst nightmare. Their only child has been killed, and the grief is overtaking the mother’s ability to cope, and recover. It’s been months since the tragedy, and the mother is showing little sign of progress. The husband, played by Willem Defoe, is a psychiatrist, and while his belief system would normally detract from recommending a relative treat a loved one he feels that there’s no better person on Earth more able to help his wife than he. Defoe then takes his wife (played magnificently by Charlotte Gainsbourg) through a series of mental tests and a venture out to a cabin in the woods (the sight of her greatest fear) as he tries to pinpoint the reason she’s having no success coming to terms with the death of their son.

There are probably a ton of words in the English language that can be used to describe Lars Von Trier’s latest, but I can’t seem to gather any of them. The only word that seems perfectly fitting, across the board, is unforgettable. Whether you’d want to or not you can’t erase “Antichrist” from your memory after seeing it. The collective reaction of everyone in the audience on the way out of the auditorium was complete silence. Some out of confusion, others out of disbelief, a few more from shock, and a sizable handful of people who felt like they’d just watched one of the greatest films they’d ever seen. I dip my toes into each one of those waters.

antichrist movie image.jpgDespite reservations of saying whether I actually “liked” the film, I can say with little restraint that I’ve seen few better films than “Antichrist” this year. It evokes similar atmospheric traits to Peter Weir’s “Picnic at Hanging Rock” in regards to how it handles elements of the supernatural. There are a lot of dream-like slow-motion sequences and a score that matches a somber dark fantasy to create something that is entrancingly nightmarish. It’s as beautiful to view as it is physically daunting to watch, because there are some brutal moments that are nearly impossible to withstand. I hate to point to that aspect of the movie because as monumentally shocking as those moments are there are just as many others in the film that are positively breathtaking, and sometimes it’s both at once.

“Antichrist” is the kind of film that I can appreciate, and be in awe of despite a few moments that feel pretentious (this is Von Trier), but can only recommend based on the individual. It’s completely outside any realm of specific accessibility. I can, however, guaranty that what you see is not easily, if not impossibly forgotten. If you have one of the most open of minds, and want to see something entirely one of a kind you’re unlikely to find something as affecting as Lars Von Trier’s “Antichrist”; yet, even still, brace yourself.

NOTES:
This is a re-encode of a cam i found.....there was no grp name so i'm guessing it's a p2p release off
someone...so full marks to them and the upper doods and slayer,not sure who upped it first.
The file size on the original is really small....but i was suprised by the quality for a small file and being cam....
not saying it's anything to rant about but i've seen alot worse cams than this.
Oirignal source was a bit colourless and dull....but i think it's meant to have that sort of feeling (could be wrong).
Audio was a little low but clear enough to understand whats being said.

WORK DONE:
Firtsly cropped it and changed the res....haven't cropped any of the film.but just those thick black borders.
I then ran it few a filters changing the chroma and brightness mainly.....also changed the rgb contrast to tone down
the bright spots.
Audio was low like stated so i've boosted that up to 200%.

Ps PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD MY RELEASES IF YOU DON'T LIKE RE-ENCODES OR IF YOU THINK BY SOME
HOW ME RE-ENCODING THEM IS GOING TO MAKE THEM LOOK LIKE R5'S....BECAUSE THEY DON'T!!!!!
