Burnout Paradise debuts on PC platforms in the form of a special edition release that includes all the gameplay of the award-winning Burnout Paradise game plus the previously-released Burnout Paradise Cagney and Burnout Paradise Bikes content updates, and the brand new Burnout Paradise Party content. Burnout Paradise Party is an offline multiplayer mode designed to allow up to eight friends to “pass-the-pad” in dozens of Burnout challenges.

Nhưng nếu lang thang khắp nơi bạn sẽ thấy rất nhiều đèn giao thông và đường tắt. Từ trong xế hộp, game thủ có thể lựa chọn các sự kiện đua như Stunt (đua biểu diễn), Races (dự giải), Marked Man (cố gắng tới điểm đích trong khi các tay đua khác tìm cách biến xe của bạn thành đống sắt vụn), Road Rage (phá hủy một số lượng xe cho trước trong một khoảng thời gian nhất định), Timed (đua tính thời gian). Những chiếc xe mà người chơi có thể lựa chọn được chia thành ba loại: Speed (đua tốc độ), Stunt (đua biểu diễn) và Aggressive (đua phá hoại). Mỗi loại xe có một cơ chế điều khiển riêng và bạn nên thử chúng trước khi lựa chọn.

Điểm đặc trưng của Ultimate Box là hệ thống tăng tốc (boosting). Đó là một biểu kế chỉ xuất hiện khi game thủ ở trong tình huống nguy hiểm và có tác dụng khác nhau đối với mỗi loại xe. Chẳng hạn, xe thuộc nhóm Speed chỉ có thể tăng tốc khi đạt tới tốc độ tối đa, xe thuộc nhóm Aggressive có thể tăng tốc độ bằng cách phá hủy thêm nhiều xe khác. Mỗi khi game thủ đâm vào thanh chắn đường, vượt qua đèn giao thông hay phá hủy xe khác, một đoạn phim ngắn sẽ hiện ra để bạn xem lại các diễn biến ở tốc độ chậm.

Trong lúc đua mà không nắm chắc lộ trình, bạn nên làm theo hướng dẫn của game. Nếu dành thời gian tìm kiếm đường tắt, khám phá những con đường ngắn nhất hoặc thẳng nhất, bạn sẽ tiết kiệm được khá nhiều thời gian. Tuy nhiên, thời điểm thích hợp để khám phá còn lâu mới đến, vì thành phố trong game khá rộng lớn và có mạng lưới đường xá chằng chịt. Đường tắt được đánh dấu bằng các cổng màu vàng, nhưng người chơi phải biết cách tự rút ra bài học kinh nghiệm trong việc tìm ra vị trí của chúng.

Các tay đua có thể định hướng dễ dàng nhờ phần hướng dẫn, bản đồ mini, các dấu hiệu rẽ (nhấp nháy) và biển hiệu giao thông trên đường. Các dấu hiệu rẽ chỉ cho bạn con đường hợp lý để tới đích, nhưng một số lối rẽ xuất hiện nhanh đến nỗi game thủ không thể ghi nhớ. Sau khi đã nắm được địa hình thành phố và khu vực xung quanh bạn có thể dựa vào trí nhớ và kinh nghiệm để định hướng.

Với những sự kiện mang phong cách tự do như đua biểu diễn và đua phá hoại, game thủ có thể tới mọi nơi, khiến cho vai trò của việc định hướng giảm rõ rệt. Do tất cả thử thách trong game được thiết kế theo hướng mở (không theo một lộ trình định sẵn), bạn có thể gặp nhiều sự kiệ lặp đi lặp lại nhiều lần. Bản thân các thách thức không thay đổi sau mỗi lần bạn gặp lại chúng, nhưng game sẽ yêu cầu người chơi ghi nhiều điểm hoặc phá hỏng nhiều xe hơn. Điểm xuất phát trong mỗi sự kiện thay đổi tùy theo vị trí đèn giao thông mà bạn lựa chọn để khởi hành.

Nếu hết hứng thú với các giải đấu truyền thống và hoạt động khám phá thành phố, game thủ có thể lựa chọn nhiều sự kiện theo kiểu tự do, như phá kỷ lục của các tay đua khác hoặc tham gia chế độ Showtime (kiếm điểm bằng cách đâm vào các xe khác, không quan tâm tới việc cán đích).

Rượt đuổi có lẽ là hoạt động thú vị nhất trong các sự kiện theo kiểu tự do. Nếu bạn về nhất trong một cuộc đua, game sẽ thông báo rằng hàng trăm tay đua khác đang tung hoành trên khắp thế giới. Nếu đuổi kịp họ, bạn sẽ chiếm được xe. Người chơi có thể nhận ra những tay đua này rất dễ dàng, vì họ di chuyển với tốc độ lớn hơn hẳn so với các xe khác. Để chiếm được xe của họ, bạn phải tham gia những cuộc rượt đuổi với tốc độ cực cao. Đôi khi game thủ đuổi kịp họ rất nhanh, nhưng nếu xế hộp của bạn không thuộc nhóm “khủng” nhất thì cuộc rượt đuổi có thể kéo dài hàng tiếng đồng hồ. Việc bám theo tay đua khác qua những con đường mà bạn không thể biết trước đem lại cảm giác rất thú vị.

Ở phần chơi trên mạng, game thủ cũng có rất nhiều lựa chọn, từ các giải đấu có thể tùy biến, chế độ phối hợp đồng đội cho tới tranh tài theo nhóm. Các chế độ online cho phép tối đa 8 người tham gia. Khác với phần offline, xe cộ trong phần online xuất hiện nhan nhản trên các đường phố. Nhưng họ không phải dân thường, mà là các tay đua trên khắp thế giới. Hệ thống liên lạc giữa các game thủ là một điểm yếu. Mặc dù game hỗ trợ tính năng VoIP, nhưng bạn lại không thể chat bằng chữ với người chơi khác.

Chất lượng đồ họa của The Ultimate Box chỉ trên mức trung bình, nhưng tốc độ khung hình ổn định, các hiệu ứng ánh sáng và những mẫu xe ấn tượng vẫn mang đến cảm giác hài lòng cho người chơi. Phần âm thanh được thiết kế tốt hơn với những hiệu ứng âm thanh sống động khi xe đua khởi động, sang số, nhấn ga và tăng tốc. Trong lúc phóng vun vút trên đường, bạn sẽ được thưởng thức các bản giao hưởng kinh điển như bản Sonata ánh trăng của Beethoven, bản Rusty Cage của Soundgarden.
